My run on Tuesday morning did not go as well as I had hoped. I ran on Tuesday this week rather than Monday because I was too tired from my weekend to get my butt up at 6AM to run. I was actually too tired on Monday to do ANY exercise AT ALL! Last Wednesday I had run my 5 miles because I knew I wouldn't get it in over the weekend. It went great! Those five miles were no problem, but almost a week later I couldn't run my 3.5 miles!
I had the "don't wants" when I got up Tuesday morning, but I forced myself to get up and get to it. I started out running and it wasn't too bad at first. About 1 1/4 mile in, though, my shoe came untied. So I stopped to retie it. Then it felt too tight. So I stopped and loosened it up. After that, I was good to go for about 1/2 mile or so.
When I went to check my pace on my Garmin, the battery had died. I knew I was only about 2 miles into my run, though, from where I was on my course. My head kept telling me to just walk because I had no way of tracking the rest of my run, but I kept running. When I hit about the 3 1/4 mile mark, though, I had to cross the Highway and my foot had gone numb so I slowed down and walked.
After just under 1/4 mile of walking my foot felt better and I had caught my breath. So I went back to a run. I ran about 1/4 mile at a faster than normal pace for me. Since my Garmin was off I don't know my exact pace, but I would guess it was between 9-10 min/mile! It was not my best run by far, but I wouldn't say it was my worst run either!

This morning was a whole different story. I had the "don't wants" again when I got up, but my run went 1,000 times better. I ran the whole 3.5 miles straight at just over 11 min/mile average pace. Then I walked for 1/4 mile to catch my breath. Then I sprinted at an average 8:17 min/mile pace for 2/10ths of a mile. (I tried to make it 1/4 mile, but just couldn't push myself that far.) It felt so great! I was so proud of myself this morning! It was amazing to see just how far I have come since March.
It is crazy to me how different things can be from one run to the next. One run is so rough to get through, but the next one goes so smooth. I have such a love/hate relationship with running! I think the "love" is winning, though, because I can't wait till my 5 mile run on Saturday morning!
