After taking a whole week off from running it seemed difficult to get back on track. I knew that I needed to get the miles in, though, to be ready for my half in less than 2 months. So last Monday I hit the road for 5 miles while my loving hubby took our daughter with him to drop the 2 boys off at school. It took about a mile to get into a groove and then I saw our van coming up the road toward me! My hubby stopped to get some great pictures of me in action!
After that little boost, it was clear sailing until about the last mile home. I was hoping for another cheer session from the hubby and my daughter, but they were waiting for me at home instead.
Then it wasn't until Friday morning that I got my next 5 mile run in for the week. Once again, I had the hardest time with the first mile and last mile. Overall, though, they were both pretty good runs. Nothing great, but nothing horrible either.

Then I needed to get in my 8 miles. I hit the road for that long run on Sunday morning. I was a bit freaked out about it after I took the time to route out 8 miles! I had to run all the way to the library and then back. It just seemed so far! After getting into the groove within the first mile, though, it didn't seem so bad. There were points that were more of a struggle than others, but most of it was smooth sailing. That is until I fell!
This was the first time I had run the streets in town. I made sure that I stayed where there were sidewalks, but unfortunately found out how hazardous those sidewalks are. About 5 miles into my run I tripped on uneven sidewalk and completely biffed it! I scraped up both hands and one elbow. My first running injury!

I picked myself up, though. I walked for just a bit to make sure I was all ok. Then I went back to running and ran those 3 miles home! I'm tougher than I think! I finished those 8 miles in just over 1 hr 35 minutes and that was with a fall and having to wait for some lights! Other than my fall, that was a pretty good run!
This week I ran 5 miles on both Tuesday and Thursday morning. I am definitely back on track with my running! Neither run was really great, though. On Thursday, it took me nearly 3 miles to even get into it. I just had to keep pushing myself to keep going. Why do I still struggle with some runs?
Now I need to go plan my 9 mile route for tomorrow morning. Ugh! Gag me now!
