I have done really well since my last post. I got in both workouts I had talked about getting in. I did 45 minutes on the elliptical and burned more than 500 calories on Thursday night. On Friday, I did the 30 Day Shred Level One. I was amazed at how much stronger I was than the last time I had done it. I did the whole video thru without having to stop at all using 5lb weights!
I have decided to start a weekly post on my weight that will also include my measurements monthly. I weigh myself every Friday and take my biceps, waist, hips, thighs, and calves measurements at the beginning of every month which I will report to you guys every Monday as my Measurements Monday post. I am only doing this to help hold myself more accountable. These are not things I feel very comfortable sharing, but here I go stepping out of my comfort zone. My measurements for this week are:
Weight-182.9 (down 1.5)
Biceps-13" (same)
Waist-34.5" (down 1/2")
Hips-41" (down 1")
Thighs-21" (down 1")
Calves-15" (down 1")
I must admit that I am feeling a bit on the disappointed side at how slowly the weight and inches are coming off, but I need to remind myself to persevere! Thus the title of my blog ;) This is a journey to being healthy and not just all about the weight loss. I know we can all get to playing the numbers game and it has a way of tripping us up. I will not let these numbers swirling around trip me this time!
Overall, disregarding the numbers, I feel that I am doing a pretty good job at becoming healthier. I am now exercising at least five days a week for at least 30 minutes at a time (if not a whole hour) and I am working on making healthier choices food wise. I look at labels and check nutritional values before going to restaurants most of the time. I am trying to fuel my body rather than just mindlessly eating. Do I still eat junk food? Sometimes! But only occasionally!
Some numbers I am happy to report, though, are that I ran for my 22 minutes straight at an average pace of about 12 min/mile on Saturday and it went great! I even shot some pictures for you all to see.

After my run on Saturday in the beautiful weather, we decided that we should go fishing on Sunday. We went to Emmett to check out a few ponds my hubby had read about that were suppose to have bass. They didn't look so great and had no shade. We ended up having our picnic lunch at a park by one and then caught a couple of bluegills before heading over to Horseshoe Bend to one of our favorite ponds to fish. We did a lot better there! I ended up with about 35 bluegills while my hubby caught a good 20 or so and a couple of perch. My 9 yo son caught about 12 bluegills and even caught a bass on his first cast! The two little ones helped daddy catch a few of his, but mainly played in the sandy beach area. Overall it ended up being a great day!
My 25 minute run this morning was not quite as easy for me to get through as Saturday's run. I had to keep pushing myself and avoiding the negative voices in my head. I started playing the numbers game again. How far had I gone? What was my pace? How much longer did I need to run? I had to turn my music up a couple different times to drown out all of that and to just focus on some really great tunes. I made it through, but it was rough.
A couple of my favorite songs that really push me and get me through are:
1- This Girl is on Fire (Alicia Keys)
2- Firework (Katy Perry)
3- Stronger (Kelly Clarkson)
4- Get Thru This (Art of Dying)
5- Try (Pink)
6- Learning to Live (Beth Hart)
7- What Have You Done Today (Mpeople)
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
