As usual, it has been hard to keep up with everything in my life! I have made it a priority, though, to keep up with my Half Marathon training runs! My Half Marathon is only 2 days away! I have done all the training, but I'm still feeling very, very, very anxious and nervous! I have just been one big ball of nerves all week!
My hubby surprised me on Monday by asking me how I would feel about spending the night before my race in a hotel that is just down the street from my race WITH him! He would get up with me and get me to the race on time. He would ride his bike so that he can meet me in different spots along my race to help with things like taking my jacket and getting me more water and gu packets. This ALL sounding so amazing and wonderful! It would be so great to have him there supporting me the whole way!
On Tuesday morning I took off for my 4 mile run. My hubby was going to leave shortly after to catch up to me at about 1.5 miles when I would need to take off my jacket. At about 1 mile, I was already warmed up so I took it off and just tied it around my waist. I didn't see my hubby behind me, yet, but I was sure he would be there shortly! I saw him a ways behind me when I was at about 1.25 miles. My knight in shining armor was on his way to save the day!
It was close to 1.6 miles before my hubby caught up to me on his bike. I handed off my jacket and he said he was headed back home. I told him I would see him there when I got back. When I came back home, he told me that he had only been home for maybe 10 minutes and that I am really hard to keep up with! That gave me a huge boost in confidence! I felt so amazing! I may not be the fastest runner, but it was work for my hubby to catch up on his bike! I averaged an 11:08 min mile that run and was under 11 min miles for the whole first 2 miles!
On my 2 mile run on Thursday morning, I was able to get that pace down even lower! My average pace was 10:46! I know that on Sunday I need to go slower to pace myself and not run out of energy, but it is amazing to see how my pace has really improved! I am not a fast runner by any means, but I have improved and have not given up!
